What we change, and what we don't
Simply stated
- We show each maker's work as they present it.
- We crop and resize photos to fit the site, and tidy the files. We never alter what's in them.
- A maker's words and business name appear as they wrote them.
- Nothing goes live until the maker says yes, and they can ask for a change or removal at any time.
The rest of this page is written for makers, and spells out the detail.
What we may change
- Photos. We crop every photo the same way so pages look consistent, fix common issues such as a photo that's the wrong way up, make smaller copies so pages load quickly, and remove hidden camera and location details for your privacy.
- Our own words. We write the one-line summary of what you make, and a short description of each photo for people who use screen readers. You can ask us to reword them.
- Prices. We copy them from your shop, show the lowest as "From €", and offer rough conversions into other currencies. We don't show prices for alcohol at the moment, while we work out the rules.
- Links. We send people straight to your own pages, with a small
utm_tag on the end so you can see the visit came from us. We also count how many visitors we send you, but only as a total. - Where you appear. We suggest categories for you. We decide which makers are shown on the homepage. For anything paid, see How we make money.
- Your label. Each listing gets one of three labels: Made in Ireland, Designed in Ireland or Craft service. How we check explains what each one means.
What we never change
- Your words. We use what you've written about your work word for word, apart from tidying spaces and dashes. We won't reword it without asking you first.
- What's in your photos. We crop and resize them, but we never edit what's in them: no retouching, no added or removed objects, no filters.
- Your names. Your business name and your product names appear exactly as you write them. Long names can sometimes get cut off in search results or link previews, but they show in full on our pages.
- Where people buy. Links go to your own shop, or to a stockist you've told us about. Nowhere else.
- Anywhere else. We won't use your name, words or photos on social media, in adverts or anywhere else without asking you first.
When something needs to change
- Check-ins. Every so often we'll email to ask if your products and photos are still right.
- If something breaks. If a link stops working, we'll let you know and fix it with you. We only take a listing down if something is seriously wrong, and we'd always tell you first.
- If a listing comes down. That might be because you asked us to, or because we found something seriously wrong. Either way, anyone following an old link will only see a short note that the maker is no longer listed, and your name won't appear.
